The Borough of Hanover, in collaboration with the
Hanover Area YMCA, announces the Hanover Area 2023 Playground Program scheduled for June 5 to July 28 from 9AM to 12:00PM at Hanover Street Elementary, the DeGuy Avenue Playground, the Elm Avenue Playground, and Moul Field. There is no session on July 4th. In the event of inclement weather, the program will be canceled.
This is a drop-in program (pre-registration is NOT
required), but an emergency contact form is required if a child is dropped off. The program is for grades K-8; children under six are welcome but must be accompanied by a parent at all times during the program.
Plans for this summer include presentations by Reptile Invasion, The Butterbee Foundation, and Willy Woo Woo & Friends. Lunch will be provided on four occasions at each park. The children will have free access to games, art supplies, and sports equipment daily. At the end of the program participants will be presented with a backpack which they will be able to fill with books and supplies as they prepare to head back to school. Each playground site creates its own agenda for each day. Last summer some activities included bingo, pinatas, bubbles, music Fridays, kickball games, making snow, spaceship building, and tie dyeing.
