BOROUGH COUNCIL ACTIONS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS:
COMMUNITY RECOGNITIONS: Mayor SueAnn Whitman recognized Jeff Stern/JS Construction for his donation of labor and materials for necessary repairs at the Hanover Theater. And Council President Bill Reichart presented a certificate of community recognition to Council Member Chris Lockhard for his dedication and service to the Borough of Hanover and "his beloved fire department." (Mr. Lockhard's father received the award on his behalf.)
ACCEPTANCE OF DONATION: Bob Hollingshead of the Hanover Eagles 1406 presented a generous donation for the 2023 4th of July fireworks.
PARKS, RECREATION, OPEN SPACE & PATHWAY PLAN: Ann Toole (Toole Recreation Planning) & Andrew A. Mears, PLA Senior Associate, presented results of study of parks, recreation, open space & pathway plan with recommended key steps for implementation.
APPROVE SPECIAL EVENTS:
Hanover Chili Cookoff on September 3, 2023 at Moul Field
Hawk Hustle 5K Run on November 11, 2023 at Hanover High School
APPROVE MARKET HOUSE STALL RENTAL: Approval was granted for Bella Joy by Jody / Jody Bradford for rental of stall at Hanover Market House.
GRANT FOR BOAT LAUNCH: A grant agreement with the PA Fish and Boat Commission for a Boat Launch Ramp and Parking Lot Expansion with a $50,000 cash match for the 2024 budget was approved.
REMOTE-CONTROLLED TRACKED SLOPE MOWER: Approval was granted to award the bid to the lowest qualified bidder, Bobcat of Adams County, 370 Church Street, Hanover, PA, for a remote-controlled tracked slope mower.
LAND DEVELOPMENT PLAN AT 230 WILSON AVE: Approval was granted by Resolution No. 1369 for the Preliminary/Final Land Development Plan for Tractor Supply, 230 Wilson Ave., Hanover, PA.
SUBDIVISION AND LAND DEVELOPMENT PLAN FOR 310 JUNIPER LANE: Approval was granted by Resolution No. 1370 for the Final Reverse Subdivision and Land Development Plan at 310 Juniper Lane.
ORDINANCE FOR REGULATING DUMPSTERS OR STORAGE UNITS: Approval was granted for Ordinance No. 2341 for regulating the placement of refuse dumpsters or portable storage units.
MUNICIBID AUCTION: Approval was granted for the sale of surplus equipment in the amount of $69,082.00 through Municibid Online Auction per Resolution No. 1367 approved by Hanover Borough Council April 26, 2023.
EXPLORE YORK GRANT SUBMISSION: Approval was granted to submit a grant application for an Explore York grant for seventeen (17) to twenty (20) additional downtown storyboards utilizing the Borough of Hanover as grant agent at no cost to the Borough.
LIBRARY WORK GROUP: In regard to the Guthrie Memorial Library, approval was granted for the Borough to adopt the findings and recommendations of Council’s Library Working Group as reviewed by the Borough’s legal counsel and administration to empower the Borough Manager to effectuate the findings and recommendations of Council’s Library Working Group with respect to the future operations of the Library.
